Step 1. Remove the tick from bag or container with a pointy tweezer.

Step 2. Place the tick on a white background and make sure you have good top lighting. Two-sided tape can help keep the tick from moving so it’s easier to focus.

Step 3. Move your camera or smart phone to focus on the tick. There are two different types of ticks that require different focus attention:


Engorged "Round" Ticks:

If your tick is engorged, concentrate
on the face and shield area of the tick.

Unfed "Flat" Ticks:

If your tick is unfed, concentrate
on the entire top of the tick.
